Jennifer Escalona tells it like it is

22 Apr 2009My apologies for the lack of a post yesterday. I was out of town for two days and thought that it would be a breeze to hook up to some wireless internet and post. Little did I know that the F in Florida does not stand for “free,” “flexible” or “fortuitous.”
That said, let’s leave that ill-fated post for tomorrow and dive right in to Worthy Wednesday! As always, the premise of Worthy Wednesday is simple: I’ll explain why I find a site Google Reader-Worthy, and hopefully introduce readers to a useful resource in the process.*
Today’s Worthy Wednesday Pick: Superuseless Superpowers
The last two Worthy Wednesdays have been all about productivity and furthering your career. But all writing and no random web surfing makes Jenn a dull girl. Sometimes you just need to spend a few minutes goofing off with something that isn’t doing a single thing to further your career. And there is nothing more useless than reading about Superuseless Superpowers.
Just like other Worthy Wednesday sites, this one is just what it sounds like. Superuseless Superpowers updates periodically with an example of a superpower that wouldn’t get a superperson very far.
Recent examples include Healing Punch and Walk Through Walls-ish. Go ahead, check them out. You know you want to see the illustrations.
Besides it’s innate hilarity, the best thing about Superuseless Superpowers is that new entries take just a few seconds to read (meaning your clients don’t lose you to an afternoon of browsing), and it only updates periodically. So plug Superuseless Superpowers into your RSS feed and get a much needed laugh in the middle of all those freelance writing blogs you feel obligated to follow.
*For the approximately 75% of you that do not embrace your Google Reader or other RSS feed reader, these things basically allow you to plug in a web address (not all addresses, but many) and then, while you are off writing, or working, or playing, they collect all the new posts that cropped up on that site while you were gone. This makes it a breeze to come back and read all your regular blogs, news outlets and even Craigslist categories without missing a thing. One again, I will shamelessly suggest that you try it now by plugging address http://blog.jennescalona.com. In to your Google reader or other RSS feed reader of choice.
