When searching for jobs over the past two days, I ran into more than the usual number of “internships.” While internships are a wonderful way to gain experience and snag references while making professional contacts, be sure your potential internship is a true internship and not just slave labor. Deb Ng’s The Difference Between an Internship and Unpaid Labor says it all.

In a nutshell: Internships are for YOUR professional development, not a sneaky way for employers’ to save money.
